Is the new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard a credit card?
No, the new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard is a debit card. When you make a purchase using this card, the funds are immediately deducted from your account. You must have a sufficient balance available in your account in order to complete a transaction.


How will I receive the new card?
Members will begin receiving their new cards by mail in October. Card replacement for WFCU card holders will be completed gradually over a period of 8 months. When you receive the card, you will be able to use it immediately with your existing PIN. Your existing debit card will be closed 3 weeks after your new WFCU Credit Union is mailed but, for security purposes, we recommend destroying your existing card immediately upon receiving your new card.


Are there limits on the new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard?
Yes, the same limits that have been applied to your current debit card will apply to your new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard, including limits on daily ATM cash withdrawals and point-of-sale purchases.


Can I make reservations (hotel, rental car, etc.) using my new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard online or by phone?
Yes, reservations can be made online or over the phone using your new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard. In some cases, the merchant may put a hold on the funds to guarantee the reservation in which you must have enough funds in your account to cover the value of the hold.


Can I shop online using my new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard?
You can use your new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard to make online purchases at select Canadian merchants that accept Debit Mastercard. You can also use your new Debit Mastercard to make online purchases with international merchants that accept Mastercard. You can find a list of Canadian merchants that accept Debit Mastercard here. You must complete one transaction at a retailer point-of-sale terminal using your PIN before you can make an online transaction.


Will I need to select a new PIN?
If you receive your card in the mail, you can use it immediately using the same PIN you set on your existing card.


How will my new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard work in the U.S.?
Your new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard can be used at any merchant in the U.S. that accepts Mastercard. Just look for the Mastercard brand where you make your purchases.


When using my new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard at a U.S. gas station, what do I enter if asked for a Zip Code?
When making a purchase in the U.S., you may be asked for a Zip Code, simply enter the numeric values of your postal code with two trailing zeros. For example, N8X 4G2 would be entered as 84200.


When making a purchase, if a merchant asks “credit or debit”, what should I say?
When making a purchase within Canada using your new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard, the transaction will be completed as a debit or Interac payment. When making a purchase internationally, tell them it is a Mastercard. 


Can I make contactless payments?
Your new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard is equipped with Interac Flash®, which enables tap-to-pay at Canadian retailers. Outside of Canada, you will need to insert your card and input your PIN into the terminal. Contactless payments are not available for out of country transactions processed by the Mastercard Network. 


Can I use my new WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard to set up a recurring payment? (Gym Membership, Amazon, Netflix)
Yes, your WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard can be used for recurring payments in Canada anywhere Mastercard Debit is accepted. An up-to-date list of these merchants can be found here.


What happens if I receive a refund for a transaction made on the Mastercard network?
Return transactions via the Mastercard network may take up to one (1) day to be credited to your account.  


Is my new
WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard secure and protected?
With Mastercard’s Zero Liability Protection, you are not liable for unauthorized purchases made in store, over the telephone, online or with a mobile device. What happens if I’ve lost my WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard?
To report a lost or stolen WFCU Credit Union Debit Mastercard, call 1-866-500-WFCU (9328) or the Mastercard International call centre (toll-free from Canada or USA) at 1-800-MASTERCARD. Lost or stolen cards must be reported within 24 hours of the loss or theft; otherwise, you may be liable for all fraudulent transactions made with your card.
