Vice President, Corporate Risk Management

The Vice President, Corporate Risk Management is responsible for various risk related portfolios to ensure WFCU Credit Union meets its regulatory and operational responsibilities. This position plays a key role in the development, implementation and monitoring of an enterprise wide risk management program including investment, liquidity, operational, structural, and compliance risk for the credit union.

In summary, the Vice President, Corporate Risk Management will:

  • Report to the President and Chief Executive Officer
  • Develop and manage the process of assessing, proactively identifying, monitoring and communicating risk that could impact the strategic direction of the credit union.
  • Ensure all areas of risk adhere to the credit unions risk tolerance level.
  • Participate in setting the strategic direction of the credit union ensuring our risk tolerance is incorporated.

As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for:

  • Implementing and maintaining our enterprise risk management program adhering to regulatory requirements
  • Develop leading risk management strategies and build the framework for a robust risk management program that will drive operational risk transformation towards an efficient, effective and coordinated model across all credit union divisions
  • Identify and evaluate operational risks arising from significant projects, programs, products, M&A transactions and real estate acquisitions
  • Managing the process of developing risk policies and procedures and ensure completion of annual reviews.
  • Overseeing the ICAAP program to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Managing the Compliance department to ensure adherence to AML legislation and other regulations as provided by our strategic partners.
  • Managing the reporting process to management and the Board.

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:

  • Post-secondary education in business, finance or risk management, MBA preferred
  • A minimum of 10 years financial services experience in risk oversight roles, strong, knowledge of financial, operational and management practices
  • Skilled communicator with the ability to influence and motivate others
  • Problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to analyze complex information to identify the key issues/actions and drive to resolution
  • Ability to work in an entrepreneurial, innovative, fast paced environment
  • Superior communication skills including written and presentation
  • The ability to stay informed of new and upcoming developments in risk and the financial sector
  • Demonstration of project management capabilities that include the ability to multi-task, prioritize, organize and manage time accordingly
