Commercial Analyst

As a Commercial Services Analyst you will provide support to the Commercial Services department in the areas of credit and risk. Assigned commercial portfolios will be administered to ensure that sound lending policies and procedures are adequate, followed and maintained.

In summary, the Commercial Analyst will:
  • Report to the Director, Commercial Services
  • Provide assistance and support to Commercial Account Managers as required.
  • Oversee the administration and maintenance of a commercial portfolio consisting of commercial mortgages, loans, lines of credit and letters of credit to meet the borrowing needs of our members.
  • Help to ensure the assigned credit union loan portfolio earns a maximum return while taking the least amount of risk.
  • Monitor the compliance of the commercial portfolio, including financial covenants and security.
  • Complete all necessary reports and monthly logs of the assigned portfolio.
  • Prepare written and electronic correspondence.
  • Demonstrate exceptional professionalism and confidentiality.
As the successful candidate, you’ll have responsibility for:
  • Coordinating and preparing annual reviews for borrowing members with a high level of quality so that the commercial portfolio remains compliant with the Credit Union’s established lending guidelines and FSRA best practices.
  • Monitoring assigned loan portfolio ensuring commercial borrowing members adhere to the terms and conditions of their authorized credit facilities.
  • Managing member inquires; investigate and resolve issues as required.
  • Adhering to and complying with established policies, guidelines and procedures with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:
  • The individual must possess a university level degree in a related field. A Bachelor of Commerce is preferred
  • General knowledge of financial statements and accounting practices is required
  • A high level of analytical ability and sound credit analysis is required
  • Excellent computer proficiency operating Microsoft Office programs
These additional skills are considered assets too:
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Knowledge of Moody’s Investor Services is considered an asset.
