Mortgage Underwriter

As Mortgage Underwriter, you are responsible for the efficient and accurate processing of mortgage applications, the maintaining of close relationships with WFCU’s broker network, as well as building strong and sustainable business for WFCU Credit Union.

In summary, the Mortgage Underwriter will:

  • Process mortgage applications submitted via broker network.
  • Follow established procedures and lending criteria, making sound judgment while recommending feasible loan options for borrower applicants.
  • Build and maintain a strong working relationship with each broker, providing excellent customer service for potential future WFCU Credit Union members.
  • Ability to collect, organize, and process information from a wide variety of documents provided by borrowers, brokers, and financial governing bodies.
  • To complete tasks in an extended hours environment when required.
  • To work with other credit union staff to ensure that objectives of the department are achieved.

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:

  • A diploma or degree in Business Administration is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of high-volume mortgage processing experience is required.
  • Previous experience working with loan broker networks, strong ability to maintain business relationships and problem solve to find mutually beneficial solutions.
  • Keen understanding of CMHC and Sagen policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Self-motivated and strong communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent computer proficiency operating Microsoft Office programs.
