Marketing Communications Specialist

As a key team member and content creator, you have a solid understanding of advertising, sales, branding, campaigns, events, and digital media. Working to ensure that our brand voice is clear and consistent across various channels, you create content with purpose. From increasing awareness, educating and changing attitudes to motivating prospective members, you act and write with a clear goal in mind.

Comfortable working in a fast-paced and deadline-driven environment, you can quickly adapt to changing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously. You have a solid understanding of what it means to contribute to a longer-term strategy, and every piece you develop demonstrates this.

You will help clarify our suite of products and services across the organization and ensure our key stakeholders understand WFCU Credit Union's purpose and all we have to offer.

In summary, the Marketing Communications Specialist will:
  • Produce multi-purpose content for a variety of channels.
  • Help create unique promotional material to support the growth of our various divisions and their products and services.
  • Collaborate and support the creative team to promote all our brands and products in both member and non-member campaigns.
  • Effectively inform, educate and engage members and non-members through written materials.
  • Utilize experience in strategic communications to develop and execute communication plans consistent with the credit union's strategic plan.
As the successful candidate, you will be responsible for:
  • Developing and writing content for a wide variety of deliverables, including annual reports, planning documents, and website pages.
  • Coordinating media testimonials, including but not limited to radio and press releases.
  • Staying up to date with the latest technology, industry trends and industry best practices.
  • Planning and executing communications strategies in a variety of areas, including media relations and internal/external communications.
  • Researching, writing and editing engaging web content that helps position WFCU in the minds of our ideal member.
  • Building strong relationships with various stakeholders to gather relevant content to inform and drive communication activities.
  • Working within WFCU brand guidelines and writing style to champion the brand, ensuring quality and consistency.
  • Participating and representing the marketing and communications department on various project teams within the credit union.
The "must-have" skills and qualifications that we're looking for include the following:
  • A degree or diploma in Corporate Communications, Marketing Communications or a related field.
  • Copywriting or publishing certificate.
  • Minimum of 5-10 years of related work experience.
  • A self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable writing first drafts and editing the work of others.
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in all work.
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize competing time demands.
  • Expert knowledge of digital media and social media technology.
  • Expert computer proficiency in Microsoft Office and Mac platforms.
These additional skills are also considered assets:
  • Experience working in the financial services industry.
  • Experience working with Adobe Creative Applications.
