Accounting Assistant

The Account Assistant will provide support to the Accounting department with financial statement preparation, accounts payables, fixed assets and reporting processes.  You will assist with bank reconciliations and budget reporting as well as other duties as required. 

In summary, the Accounting Assistant will:

  • Provide assistance to the Senior Manager, Accounting in day-to-day accounting functions.
  • Update and post daily and monthly entries to the credit union’s general ledger.
  • Assist with accounts payable.
  • Perform month end duties such as reconciliations, analysis and reporting.
  • Manage and distribute office supply orders.
  • Assist in the analysis and interpretation of financial data to support decision making.

 

The “must-have” skills and qualifications that we’re looking for are:

  • Post-secondary education with a background in finance or accounting is required.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a related position.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent computer proficiency operating Microsoft Office programs.

 

These additional skills are considered assets too:

  • Prior experience within the financial services industry.
